Super Natural hand-made skincare comes from Brockenhurst in the New Forest. It is the caring hands of Lesley Alkin that brings us this superbly crafted and thoughtfully produced, high quality skin care. Lesley has studied the principles of several dermatologists and formulated her skin care in accordance with these.

Lesley Alkin: "I started to make skin care products for my own personal use.  The more I read about commercial products and all the chemicals involved, the more convinced I became that I wanted only the freshest and most natural ingredients to go onto and into my skin.
While doing my research and training I learned from a French dermatologist that the skin doesn’t absorb water, the water molecule is just too big, so really there is no such thing as a moisturiser; the best way to protect against dehydration of the skin is to drink plenty of water and protect against moisture loss from within the skin with an oil rich or “water in oil” emulsion.

Interestingly, these oil rich emulsions are just as beneficial for oily skin, prone to breakouts. Using a “light” or more water than oil emulsion tends to dry out the skin which, in turn, stimulates over production of sebum as compensation.
I never use mineral oils such as liquid paraffin in my products, even the pure sounding baby oil is liquid paraffin. I am a great believer in organic, cold pressed vegetable oils and butters rich in essential fatty acids, they are much more skin friendly.

The recent information about the possible dangers of paraben preservatives entering the body through the skin has lead me to develop a new range of products without parabens. Instead I use a combination of natural preservatives including organic rosemary extract which has the added benefit of powerful anti-oxidant action within the cream and therefore on your skin.

(Vegan) Formulated by a holistic, Swedish dermatologist who's research shows the benefits to the skin of using high amounts of the anti-oxidant vitamins E & A, blended with cold pressed plant oils rich in essential fatty acids.

Because the skin can absorb up to 60% of whatever is applied we take great care to use only the natural form of vitamins rather than the cheaper synthetic versions derived from by-products of the petro-chemical industry. Similarly we choose to blend with fresh, cold pressed, mostly organic plant oils.

No chemical preservatives are needed in this water free formulation and no synthetic "parfum". Instead we use natural, beautiful smelling essential flower oils such as rose, lavender, frankincense with their own skin regenerative properties.

A few drops massaged into cleansed skin night and morning will guard against free radical damage leaving it soft and silky while maintaining maximum moisture levels deep within the skin layers to protect against the dangers of dryness. This is especially important in modern, centrally heated atmospheres which tend to quickly dehydrate moisture from the skin.

INGREDIENTS:  Natural Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Organic Safflower Oil, Organic Hemp Seed Oil, Organic Borage, Essential Oils of Rose (Turkey, not organic), Organic Lavender, Organic Frankincense & Organic Patchouli and that's it... no added colours, preservatives etc.

What does not go into Super Natural's VItamin E Skin Serum...

No water is used as the water molecule is too big to pass through the skin. It just evaporates, leaving the skin drier than ever. Super Natural claims there really is no such thing as a 'moisturiser', it is better to drink more water and use a product such as this designed to protect your skin's own moisture level from within.
No preservatives - as there is no water, there is no need to add a chemical preservative.
No synthetic perfume - or 'parfum'.
No mineral or paraffin oils - much beloved by the beauty industry, they are extremely cheap have a long shelf life but... they are not absorbed by the skin and can clog the pores leading to chemically induced acne. Most baby oils are liquid paraffin.
No artificial colourings.
And of course no animal products or animal testing.

    Monoi de Tahiti is made from gardenia buds infused in virgin coconut oil.

    When applied to the skin Manoi leaves a thin layer on the epidermis which hydrates, softens and protects your skin without blocking its vital functions.

    Water and preservetive-free, you need use very little to protect and nourish.

    Monoi de Tahiti has some unique qualities in skin care; the key ingredient is the Gardenia Taitensis flower, the symbol of French Polynesia. Tender young buds of this beautiful blossom are hand picked and soaked within hours in a specially filtered, first pressing coconut oil.

    Tested by an independent research laboratory alongside Vaseline, shea butter and jojoba oil Monoi shows a superior ability to hydrate the skin without blocking its vital functions.

    Monoi Moisture Protection Cream is made without water. Oil and water create a bug heaven, which needs a preservative to keep emulsions fresh so no water, no need for preservative beyond anti-oxidants to keep the oils stable. Anti-oxidants are a real plus for the skin acting as decoys to keep damaging free radicals in the environment from playing havoc with our skin cells. Super Natural uses organic, food grade rosemary extract and natural source Vitamin E and A as anti-oxidants.

    Other ingredients in this water and preservative free formulation are chosen to nourish and protect the skin.The absence of water means these valuable oils and vitamins are undiluted so you need use very little; massage in gently night and morning and whenever the face feels tight or dry.

    • ORGANIC THISTLE OIL is easily absorbed by the skin because of it’s high content of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid which plays a vital part in the health of the body and the skin. Because thistle oil is so easily absorbed it helps to carry other nourishing oils and butters into the skin more efficiently.
    • ORGANIC SESAME OIL gives natural protection against the sun and a high vitamin E content yet is mild enough to be used around the eyes and for babies. Sesame oil has a long tradition of skin care in India for Ayurvedic medicine.
    • MONOI DE TAHITI hydrates the skin without interfering with normal sebum production. Softens and smoothes dry skin.
    • ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER from West Africa is a very skin friendly fat with anti-inflammatory properties. It protects from moisture loss with the added bonus of a natural sun factor of 2-3.
    • ORGANIC BEESWAX gives more protection than oils because the skin absorbs it very slowly. It doesn’t block pores and it soothes irritated skin. The BEESWAX I use is from local New Forest bees foraging in the wild. The smell alone tells you how good it is.
