Paul Richards - Postlethwaites

Paul Richards has been growing medicinal herbs organically and producing herbal products for over twenty years.

With a degree in Botany and a Phd. in plant physiology, Paul has a deep knowledge of a wide range of medicinal plants, together with ongoing experience of their cultivation and processing.

Having supplied tinctures to Postlethwaite's for several years, Paul has now taken over the brand from James Postlethwaite, a qualified herbalist who founded Postlethwaite's Herbal Products over ten years ago.

Paul Richards/Postlethwaites tinctures are made from certified organic herbs, when available, or from wild-crafted sources. Most are obtained from fresh herbs grown in the UK - mainly on their own herb farm in Herefordshire. They specialise in high-strength tinctures - generally this is the maximum strength achievable whilst still covering the chopped herb with alcohol. Being more concentrated, these are ideally suited to use in low-volume dropper bottles. Paul Richards ointments and oils are made on the farm, mainly using their own herbs.

(Vegan)

Made on the day of harvest with fresh whole plant Echinacea purpurea grown organically in Herefordshire, UK by Paul Richards.

Echinacea is a wonderful all-round herb suitable for all ages. It helps boost the immune system to fight against bacterial, fungal and viral infections and is a known herbal anti-biotic and lymph cleanser. A great winter remedy but should not be taken continually for long periods at a time e.g. 6 weeks.

INGREDIENTS: Fresh Organic Echinacea purpurea tincture 1:1.33 w/v in 45% organic ethanol.Certified Organic by The Soil Association

N.B. Before taking this product, please seek medical advice if pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to use Tinctures: Tinctures are best taken around mealtimes and mixed with water or fruit juice. Some can have a slightly bitter taste, and orange juice is particularly effective in masking this. Some natural settlement commonly occurs with certain tinctures: this is entirely harmless and can be shaken in before use. If a clearer tincture is preferred, storing in a fridge can help to hold any sediment at the bottom and reduce flecking of the tincture taken. Adding tinctures to hot fluid reduces alcohol content, but it’s worth pointing out that the amount involved when taking tinctures is small.
